David Litell, Consultant. Background Information
David Litell, Founder and Consultant with DNA-Associates, Inc., is a veteran natural products formulator and expert speaker with over 24 years of experience in developing nutritional supplements, functional and fortified foods and beverages, retail, and sales. He has a wide range of experience throughout the supply chain in working with dozens of raw material suppliers, researchers, manufacturers, marketers, brokers, distributors, retailers, and the growing consumer base for natural products. MD's, DO's, Naturopaths, Chiropractors, giant multi-level companies, and small businesses are representative of his clients.
He served four terms on the American Herbal Products Association Board of Trustees, representing The Chemins Company, a dietary supplement, OTC and Rx manufacturer, established in 1974 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. While in Chemins' employ, David was organizational liaison for industry associations, including Council for Responsible Nutrition, National Nutritional Foods Association - Nutritional Products Association, NPA, American Botanical Council, and Herb Research Foundation, in addition to serving on the Founding Board of Directors, Dietary Supplement Safety and Science Coalition.
Working with legislators at the federal level, David educated our representatives on the benefits of a strong Health Food and Supplement industry. He also co-founded, co-chaired and served on the board of directors of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Safety of Ma Huang.
In addition to his extensive work with industry interest groups and trade associations he has testified on health issues at both Federal and State levels, and met with legislators and regulators including State and Federal Congressional representatives, FDA, FTC and DEA.
Speaking engagements include testimony before the Washington State Board of Pharmacy on Ma Huang Safety, FDA's Ephedra Public Hearing, Texas Department of Health, Texas Board of Health, and, as a radio talk show host. He also speaks as an educator for many company products and has taught Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) concepts with herbal applications to Registered Nurses for CEU’s.
